Rutland on Film

In the coming months, we will be working with Rutland County Museum to create film footage to enhance the interpretation of two objects from their Agricultural Collection, a threshing machine and a reaper binder.

The films will feature footage of the machinery in action, whilst answering questions that the public have posed about the objects.

We hope to encourage local involvement with the project by asking the public what they really want to know about the objects. We will collect this information online and at a number of events in Rutland:

  • 9th August at Oakham Castle and Rutland County Museum
  • 19th August at Oakham Farmers’ Market and Rutland County Museum

To answer the public questions, we are teaming up with a number of experts, who will share their knowledge as part of an oral history event.

The audio and video footage will be edited together to create two short films, which will be available to view alongside the objects at Rutland County Museum and online.

If you would like to get involved with the project, we are seeking some more experts on vintage farming machinery and/or people who have memories to share of farming in Rutland. If you can help or know of someone who can, please get in touch:
