Lives and Stories of the University College Nottingham Officer Training Corps

   25th October 2019  In  News And Opportunities Culture Syndicates are pleased to present the e-book of the Life Lines Group latest research project –  The Lives and Stories of the University College Nottingham Officer Training Corps in the Great War Lives and Stories of the UCN OTC   With thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Funds First World War: Then and Now fund the Life Lines Group have successfully identified 1,632 individuals who passed through the University College Nottingham Officer Training Corps between 1914-1919 and have found a range of stories and information about 548 individuals whom are the subject of this book.   The evaluation report from the project can be found here:  Life Lines Evaluation 

Culture Syndicates’ Day Out: MDEM Regional Heritage Conference – 24th September 2019

   8th October 2019  In  News And Opportunities Last week I had the pleasure of attending Museum Development East Midlands’ Regional Heritage Conference at Newark Civil War Centre. The conference gathered museum professionals from the East Midlands and beyond. Also in attendance were professionals from outside of the sector, who injected interesting perspectives on the work that museums do. The day was filled with useful advice, honest and inspiring stories. Ruchi Aggarwal, the morning’s keynote speaker, set the tone for the day with her energetic and inspiring talk. Ruchi comes from the corporate sector and her experience of succeeding as a woman in the corporate world inspired her intriguingly titled talk, “Off the ‘Sticky Floor’ – Make Room for Yourself!”. The talk was based on the idea that individuals can create change, even within a context of structural limitations, or, glass ceilings. Call for Artist: The Wordsworths’ Moss Hut

   7th October 2019  In  News And Opportunities The Wordsworth Trust is looking for an artist to create a new interpretation of the Moss Hut built by William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy. This Moss Hut will be the centre of an exciting community arts engagement project that will inspire communities worldwide to explore their own creativity and love of nature. We are looking for an imaginative response that brings alive the spirit of the original hut. This new hut should embody the creative, social and environmental spirit of the original building through the creation of a portable hut to be erected at the newly redeveloped Wordsworth Trust site in Grasmere, due to open in April 2020. This new Moss Hut, designed for a contemporary audience, will act as the catalyst and inspiration for a wide-ranging engagement project, supporting community groups, schools and organisations to make their own Moss Huts, wherever they are in the world.
