Health and well-being case study

This case study outlines how the Resilience Syndicate project designed and piloted an outreach scheme aimed at tackling loneliness and social isolation amongst older people by facilitating their engagement with their local cultural heritage, at Poppy Fields in Mansfield. The project built upon existing knowledge and engagement models used by museums when engaging this audience, producing recommendations for how best to reach out to isolated and lonely individuals. Also identified, were potential problems and risk factors associated with this type of outreach.

The case study provides a useful model for other museums to replicate and build on, and will be of use to all museum sector professionals who are interested in widening their audiences, whilst also fulfilling a social mission focusing on health and well-being.
