It finally happened. The event you’ve all been waiting for. On Wednesday 18th November, the Life Lines Group launched the book that they have been working on. Dave Wilkinson, Volunteer Co-ordinator, formally presented the book to Nottinghamshire Archives with Culture Syndicates CIC. There were presentations, David gave a fantastic speech, and people had the opportunity to liaise with others interested in the project; a deservedly wonderful launch after all the hard work.

The book contains historical accounts of both soldiers and people living in Nottingham during the war, detailing how it affected people in a variety of ways and personalising the history of a major global event. This undertaking offers invaluable insight into the ways in which the conflict impacted individual people and families.The launch was amazing, but it was not the end. On the 11th December there will be a workshop at Kings Meadow Campus, conducted by Hayley Cotterill (the Senior Archivist at the Manuscripts and Special Collections archive) and the Life Lines group. The workshop will develop knowledge of how to use archives; be a chance to meet the group; to share personal World War One collections, and facilitate the development of any interest in the First World War that you may have.
Alongside expanding interest in the local history of the First World War, the aim of this workshop is to enable the Life Lines group to progress to the next stage of their project: continued research into their own personal family stories regarding the War alongside new investigations into a list of people from the University of Nottingham, facilitated by access to and utilisation of the university archives.

Introducing: Yanqiu Autumn Dai, Strategic Advisor to the Culture Syndicates Board

  Autumn is a highly qualified and experienced heritage researcher, practitioner, and consultant based in China. Educated at the University of California, she graduated with a BA in Art History and International Relations Global Business (IRGB) before completing her MSc in Visual Material and Museum Anthropology at the University of Oxford before embarking on a successful career in heritage and the arts around the world. She has worked in Los Angeles, Singapore, Hong Kong as well as the U.K. for art market consultancies and diverse museums and galleries around the world. A partnership between Art Culture Tourism UK and OKAY! schools' magazine Italy this international project is dedicated to roses heritage in all their aspects, shapes, and colours.  ‘During these difficult pandemic times, we have created this project to uplift people around  the world - it is a way to release treasured memories of our roses, bringing family, friends  and places closer together.
